IMAGEM Light Return Certificate
Imagem's Light Performance Index defines a diamond's effectiveness at returning the maximum amount of light as it is seen coming from the diamond. The Echo diamond with 98 facets of brilliance, scores exceptionally well on the Imagem Light Return Certificate, an object measurement of the brilliance of the diamond. The Index measures three categories:
1. Brilliance: A measure of a diamond's overall strength of light return to the observer in the face-upposition. This measurement rates the return of light, both white and colored, from eight (8) different angles and then displays the average result from those measurements. Range from 0 through 205.
2. Sparkle: A static, and more importantly, a repeatable measure of scintillation - or sparkle - of a diamond. Another way to describe sparkle is a measure of the number of flashes of light, through eight (8) still measurements, that rate the 'life' of a diamond. A greater number of these flashes meanthat a diamond will display a higher degree of sparkle, or scintillation. Range from 0 through 120.
3. Intensity: Identifies a diamond's ability to create a consistent pattern as a result of the manner in whichit is cut (symmetry). Highly symmetric diamonds tend to have a greater intensity of light return and therefore exhibit a distinct symmetrical pattern. Range from 0 through 430.
Combined Light Performance Result
When you examine the Light Performance Index document, you will notice that there are 'bars' to identify where along the scales a diamond may have scored in each category. Each segment of each bar, from Low to Excellent, is worth 1 point (Low = 1 and Excellent = 5). The point system applies to each 'bar' on the scale individually. The three categories are then combined to determine the over Combined Light Performance Results, which can range from low score of 3 to high score of 15.
